Lufthansa Technik has appointed Harald Gloy as its next chief executive, succeeding Soeren Stark when he retires on February 01, 2027.
Gloy, currently chief operating officer and a member of Lufthansa Technik’s executive board, has been appointed for a five-year term.
The company said a decision on his successor as chief operating officer will be made separately.
The appointment marks another return to familiar territory for Gloy, who began his career at Lufthansa Technik more than 25 years ago and has held roles spanning logistics, corporate strategy, aircraft and engine overhaul and the components business.
He moved to Lufthansa Cargo’s executive board as chief operating officer in 2019, later adding responsibility for human resources and labour relations, before returning to Lufthansa Technik in 2022.
In his current role, he oversees the company’s operational processes and IT and serves as its accountable manager.
Grazia Vittadini, chairwoman of Lufthansa Technik’s supervisory board, said Gloy brings both detailed knowledge of the MRO business and wider leadership experience from across the Lufthansa Group.
“He has played an important role in the company’s strong performance and knows our customers, our employees and the global maintenance, repair and overhaul market exceptionally well,” she said.
Stark will remain chief executive until Gloy takes up the position, providing a transition period ahead of his retirement.
He has led Lufthansa Technik since 2022, having previously served as its chief operating officer and accountable manager from 2019. His career with the Lufthansa Group dates back to 2001 and has included leadership positions at LSG Sky Chefs, Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services and Lufthansa Cargo.
Vittadini credited Stark with setting “a clear strategic course”, strengthening customer relationships and overseeing significant growth during his tenure.
