Saudia Cargo has launched a new scheduled freighter service between Riyadh and Melbourne as it continues to expand its international cargo network.

The new route will be operated using a Boeing 747-400 freighter, providing more than 100 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight alongside nose-loading capability for oversized, heavy and high-volume shipments.

The carrier said the service had been introduced in response to growing market demand and would strengthen global supply chains while providing Saudi exporters with improved access to the Australian market.

The route launch has been supported through collaboration with the General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) and the Saudi Export Development Authority (Saudi Exports).

Saudia Cargo said the service is designed to handle a wide range of commodities in both directions, including perishables, pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment and e-commerce shipments.

The airline is also working with the Saudi-Australian Business Council to strengthen links with local logistics partners, improve transit times and support growing bilateral trade between the two countries.

The Melbourne launch forms part of Saudia Cargo’s wider international expansion strategy. The carrier recently announced an order for four Boeing 777-200 freighters, increasing the capacity of its dedicated fleet to support growing demand across global markets.

In 2025, Saudia Cargo transported more than 570,000 tonnes of freight across its worldwide network.
