Holiday flights in Europe this summer are being threatened to be targeted by environmental protestors from the Just Stop Oil group, according to reports.

The Mirror newspaper claims to have infiltrated the campaign group that has been responsible for a series of disruptive protests targeting major roads in the UK.

The report claims Just Stop Oil is planning to “wreak havoc” at airports in the UK and across Europe during the busy summer travel period.

Protestors were said to be planning to glue themselves to runways targeting flights to holiday hotpots like Greece, Spain and Turkey.

The Mirror said its undercover reporter heard threats to disrupt “on a scale that has never been seen before”.

The Just Stop Oil meeting was said to have heard that the protest campaign would take place on an “international scale” aiming to cause maximum disruption to airlines and air traffic control on tight turnaround schedules.

Just Stop Oil is expected to team up with Europe’s A22 Network to target major international airports.

Clive Wratten, chief executive of the Business Travel Association, told The Mirror: “These planned protests are a blunt instrument that will alienate the people who can bring the change Just Stop Oil wants.

“The activists should work with British businesses to create meaningful solutions to our climate crisis.”

The claims made by The Mirror follow a similar undercover investigation by The Mail On Sunday that recorded a Just Stop Oil meeting in Birmingham that promised a ratcheting up of protest.
